Easy Watermelon Martini Recipe

Hello September & Goodbye Summer Cocktails

September is here and I have mixed feelings.

On one hand, the advent of September is a reminder that my favorite time of the year, the holiday season is approaching.

On the other hand, September makes me sad because Summer is on her way out. When Summer leaves, so do my Summer cocktails.

I feel as if September is a transitional month. Now, while I savor the last weeks of incredible weather, I’ll enjoy as many a summer cocktail that I can.

Martini Cocktails and Why I Love ‘Em

Now your classic martini cocktail is made with gin and vermouth. I myself, am not a gin girl.

Even when Snoop Dog was rapping about sipping that gin and juice, I always found Gin to be too harsh. I’m a vodka girl and so I love a vodka martini. Yes, you got it – a vodka martini cocktail uses vodka as its base instead of gin.

Martini’s are a key summertime drink. Some may even call martini’s “girly” because of the many different fruity variations you can make with them. Girly or not, as strong as they are – even the manliest of men can feel their effect.

I absolutely love a martini because they are an easy cocktail to make, they are sweet and they are strong. Then you add watermelon, my favorite fruit and you’ve got yourself a banging Watermelon Martini!

Before you read on for the recipe, be sure to get yourself cocktail equipment! First, you’ll need a cocktail shaker for this recipe. Amazon has a nice cocktail making set, check it out here. You’ll also need some martini glasses. One thing about enjoying a good cocktail, the drinking glass enhances the drinking experience. Joy Jolt sells a really cool set of 4 martini glasses for under $20.
